Why not Samsung Galaxy S i9000 or any other Samsung phone

I have bought a samsung galaxy s in november from a local vodafone dealer store in Bucharest.
A few days ago the screen lost color depth and the brightness suddenly went up.
I have done a little research and found out that it is from a batch of phones that have problems from fabrication and the front panel with the display must be
replaced in order to work at full capacity again.

Finally they(samsung) informed us that the display needs to be replaced. This means the front panel in totality will be replaced. I hope to get it back in a couple
of days. The way they were handling the phone i am worried if i will get it back in acceptable condition. It has been a really traumatic experience. They informed me
it was a manufacturing defect and there seems to be a batch which might have this issue.

So i am one of their \lucky\ customers.
I sent it to service and they told me that te warranty is no longer available because i did not have the original samsung  operating system . It is true i have updated the phone with a
rooted version of android 2.3.3 . The display broke down on the original version of Gingerbread for the northern Europe Countries.
I have a master degree in computer science and i kind of know that that DOES NOT have anything to do with the problem i have. I DID not know that if i put another operating system could void the warranty. You should WRITE that with big red font and tell that to every customer that buys your phones.
It is like i buy a laptop with windows 7 and i have a hardware problem , take it into service with a linux operating system and they say the warranty was voided.
I would have understood if i bricked my phone with my new operating system, but given the fact that the phone comes from a line with problems from the assembly line, they have some nerve to treat this situation the way the local romanian samsung center did with me.
They took advantage, and did NOT take responsability for that line of faulty products.

Beware, that i understand that rules are rules, and i would have understood if it were a software problem, or if the software would have been the cause of the display
problem,  but given the fact that this is a production problem, and they know it, or even worse, they did not even check with samsung central, they have treated
this isue with no respect for me and also for their own company.

I will tell you that i was very proud of my phone, and i recommended samsung to everybody, and even begone to be fan of some other type of products samsung products

( monitors, tvs, etc) and took in consideration to buy a lot of products from samsung. Now i can tell you i will NOT recommend it to anybody

Prin noiembrie 2010 am cumparat de la un dealer Vodafone un telefon Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
Am fost foarte incantat de acest telefon. Totul mergea brici si avea cam tot ce imi doresc eu de la un smartphone.
Singura chestie care ma enerva era lag-ul aparut de la sistemul “destept” de fisiere pus de cei de la samsung: rfs.
Am incercat cateva lagfix-uri dar mi-am dat seama ca nu aduce o schimbare atat de mare decat in cifrele testelor din
quadrant. Evident ca am asteptat cu sufletul la gura update-ul la froyo. Pana acum am stat cuminte in banca si am facut
update-urile (defapt unul singur, si anume de la eclair la froyo) de pe samsung keys. Cand a aparut Gingerbread,
n-am mai avut rabdarea sa astept update-ul oficial pentru Romania si am instalat Gingerbread varianta oficiala
pentru nemti.
Telefonul mergea vizibil mai bine decat pe froyo.
L-am folosit cateva saptamani cu GingerBread pana cand intr-o zi bag telefonul in buzunar cand plec de acasa, ajung la
birou, ma uit la ecran si observ un brightness ridicat si niste culori mai palide. Prima chestie pe care o fac, este
bineinteles sa incerc sa umblu la brightness, dar fara nici un rezultat. Incep sa ma documentez pe net si observ
ca au avut si altii aceeasi problema.

Este vorba de o serie de telefoane i9000 ce au plecat cu probleme din fabrica. Pentru a rezolva aceasta problema,
trebuie inlocuit placa de baza si ecranul.
Intre timp, dupa ce a aparut aceasta problema am pus root pe telefon.
Am dus telefonul in garantie. Dupa 2 zile primesc un telefon si imi spun ca trebuie schimbata placa de baza
si ecranul, dar ca trebuie sa platesc 1000 RON, deoarece telefonul nu mai este in garantie datorita faptului ca nu
mai are sistemul de operare original (avea root).
Incerc sa le explic ca este o problem hardware provenita direct din fabrica si ca face parte
dintr-o serie de produse eliberate pe piata cu probleme.
Nu ma pot intelege deloc cu tipa de la service, care de altfel era foarte sictirita.
Eu inteleg punctul lor de vedere in ceea ce priveste resoftarea telefonului si pierderea garantiei, dar in situatia de fata
este vorba de un produs ce a venit cu probleme din fabrica. Indiferent de soft, aceasta problem ar fi aparut
mai devreme sau mai tarziu, si ei stiu foarte bine acest aspect.
Din cate am citit pe net chiar a aparut problema si la oameni cu sistemul de operare din fabrica(eclair).
Le place insa sa profite de o mica chestie scrisa in contractul mic de garantie din cutie, si sa NU isi asume
responsabilitatea pentru produsele cu probleme eliberate pe piata.
Daca ar fi actionat ca o firma care se respecta si-ar fi asumat raspunderea pentru eroarea lor.
Aceste probleme ma fac sa va recomand orice alt telefon si orice alt produs ce nu este facut de Samsung.
Modul lor de a trata problemele si clientii este total inadecvat.
Fratilor, cred ca HTC-ul are solutii mult mai fiabile decat cele de la Samsung.
Cu alte cuvinte nu va mai recomand nici un telefon, ba chiar nici un produs de la Samsung.
